| On Witchcraft... |
|
In Spirit and
Science For as far back as the ancients have recorded through teachings and practice . The ways of the witch were often found to be a seeped in superstition , mystery and myth. Only recently has the science been available to explain and validate some of the truths that have been handed down from one witch to another or born with in the witch as innate knowing. Let us begin with the general populace and our physical bodies. We have been able to develop a system of identification of the elements consisting on what we have called the periodic table. In the periodic table we find the elements, Fire, Air, Water and Earth are identified as Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon . By converting the ancient elements, modern elements and the Hebrew alphabet to their common denominator of number, the alchemical elements of creation become the modern elements of DNA. Using this we are able to translate them to the Hebrew letters YHVG in each and every cell of our bodies. The odds of these four letters randomly creating a meaningful message from the Hebrew alphabet are only 1 in 234,256 or the slim probability of .00042 percent.* So here we are. We have physical proof that we are in fact part of the earth and the earth is part of us and when we in fact call upon the elementals we are in fact calling a part of our selves to the forefront. But why do some us perceive more intense experiences of the spirit if we are in fact made up of the same materials? Molecular biologists claims that human spirituality is an adaptive trait and that they have located the genes responsible , a gene that just happens to also code for production of neurotransmitters that regulate our moods and our perception of the spiritual experience. A variation in a gene known as VMAT2(- for vesicular monoamine transporter).** Another experiment was stumbled upon where as the scientist was mapping out different areas of the brain the doctors had the subjects pray or meditate. The deeper they were able to do this the more active the frontal lobe and limbic system became.- The frontal lobe being the seat of concentration and the limbic system being where the powerful feelings, including rapture are processed.- Even more revealing is that when these parts of the brain come to life the parietal lobe at the back of the brain goes dim. It is the lobe that orientates to time and space. Take it off line and the boundaries of self fall away and the feeling of being at one with the universe emerges. Combine that with what is happening in the other two lobes and you have put together a profound “religious” experience. ** But what happens when we change our perceptions or when our perceptions are in flux from a change in energy in the vibrations of the earth that we are related to. Some of the ancients called this time “the sickness”. When we are in fact remapping our brain, changing our brain chemistry and our perceptions. We have a feeling of dying or a hyposensivity to all things both physical and spiritual and a feeling of neither being in this dimension or the next. Some have chosen to take medications rather then face this. It is a hard thing to face alone but it is still the path of the witch. If you take medication to try to mimic the feelings of security and normalcy then you will convince your self that that is the way to feel and you will not progress to true understanding of self and spirit and go beyond this understanding into the next. The understanding of the witch. Have you ever heard of the mark of the witch. This a genetic physical sign that each witch born carries. Perhaps we are the children of Lilith as apposed to the children of eve who carry no such trait and do not have the same genetic code to correlate the “religious” experience . Why then would some in the same birth families not have the same inclinations towards the craft as others in the same family. I suppose it would be the same reason you would have red hair green eyes and your brother have black hair and brown eyes. Perhaps a witch reborn brings with the incarnation something to mix in the blood. |

Rite, Ritual, and
Ceremony Mapping the Mind and Making the Connections by Elizabeth Sturino |
|
Many individuals feel they must continue to use the rite, ritual, or ceremony throughout their spiritual experience in this lifetime to achieve a desired outcome. Thereby they conclude that it is the rite , ritual, ceremony or tools used that make the work manifest. Therefore doubting their own ability to, through sheer will, make the natural connection themselves to achieve A.S.C. (altered state of consciousness) To create a new thought process or connect the neurons in the brain an action or sensation must be repeated .Once that connection is made the mere thought or sensory input causes the individual to experience an A.S.C.. Comparatively, if we liken this to landscaping a garden we can identify the process of mapping the mind. The process of gardening starts with the idea, the design of what you would like to achieve, the seed. We have to get physical and get our hands dirty and repeat the planting process over and over again to create the environment for many plants to grow and to create our landscape, gaining an intimate “knowing” of each plant through this process. The planting of the seeds, the care we take, and the patience we exhibit giving the seed time to take root and reach for the sun . The plant itself, or the intention, if it is healthy, lives in balance spiraling upwards as well as downwards. We watch the plants growth pattern and decide when to prune and shape the plants to our own desired out come through touch, intuition, sight and knowledge of the plants needs and intimate knowledge of the plant itself. This is making your intention manifest. As with intention the plants will grow whether you pay attention or not. The idea is to plant it and nurture it in a way that is most conducive to the landscape of our lives. In other words create our own reality. Some people do not intentionally create their own landscape. We can observe in nature there are many places that can be seen throughout the world as luscious, and having a seemly effortless balance. We can see in other places it can be dry and desolate, lonely and forlorn. People can choose to let fate control their lives as they can choose to let the variables create their landscape but they will have to dwell in whichever landscape the variables determine. As with a landscape as our own reality, whether intentionally planted or not, there are many variables that will determine how well the landscape flourishes; things seemingly out of our control. The weather, soils, bugs, wild life. With intention it is vibrations, Elementals, energies, doubts, and fears. Sometimes no matter what care we take or understandings we think we hold, the plants or intention will fail to thrive. For the most part failure to thrive is based on ignorance. Not necessarily of the plant, the growth process, or of the variables but failure to recognize the surrounding realities. For example if you have a thriving pine tree and you have beautiful daisies and you plant the daisies under the pine, the pine and the daisies will not flourish. Because you have failed to notice the pine will drip sap on the daisies and the planting will disrupt the fine root system of the tree needed for gathering water and have planted inside the drip line of the tree therefore invading the space it needs. Because we fail to recognize the surrounding influences and work around them or be able to work in harmony with them . With landscape and with rite, ritual, and ceremony we use tools. Elementary school education teaches us about levers, pulleys and inertia. This education helps us determine which tools will be most beneficial to make the task less laborious. We can always use our hands to dig a hole or use our strength to remove a branch. But the effort is exhausting and often painful. So while planting our garden of intention we use various tools that in themselves do not do the work by themselves but with our energy, intention and education we are able to utilize those tools to attain the desired outcome without depleting our energy. We are better able to create a more desirable landscape of intention and make it manifest in a more time efficient manner. When we use the tools we are using a repetitive motion and in doing so we create a connection in our brains so the work soon becomes effortless and we forget about holding the shovel or clippers in our hands and over time the landscape of our lives becomes a beautiful garden where we can sit and enjoy just being. The plants, after our careful attention in the beginning, have the shape and health and our effort is barely needed and neither are the tools. We keep the tools with us as a reminder of what the work that was need to accomplish creating our landscape of reality and perhaps we will use them again if we decide to begin a new garden. But our abilities as gardeners is greatly enhanced. |

The American
Traditionalist Witch by Elizabeth Sturino |
|
A wiccan will call herself a Witch but a Witch will never call herself wiccan. A Witch worships no one. A Witch does not "graduate" into "grades" through initiation or study. A Witch understands that All religions are patriarchal including wicca. Witches are highly sexual and use their sexuality in rite or whenever needed. Witches fear no one and nothing and will do and use what ever is needed to accomplish their task. There is no three fold law with Witchcraft. That is a christian concept and a form of social control. There is no "Do what you will and harm none." (another x-ian thing) It is rather "do what you will," for the witch. Witches cast widdershins and this is thought to be a negitive thing. It is not. The energy created in a circle has little to do with how it is cast but has more to do with the participants in the circle and what they do within that circle. In my experience wiccan circles are much different then Witchcraft circles. I cannot explain this further as it is something to be experienced. A Witch does not operate from emotion but from much contemplation on a subject. Witches for the most part tolerate wicca because it is our public face, hiding in plain view. Wicca is not Witchcraft in any sense of the word. Like a catholic is not Jewish. One has its basis in the other but is different in practices and views. Wicca can and is empowering for a lot of people because that is where they are at. It helps a lot of folks who are at a loss feel a sense of self worth and empowerment. This is not a bad thing as it seems to help a lot of folks. Wicca was founded by Gardener who did not become initiated by a coven in Britain as so thought (I have checked this with the Witch Families of Britain where I traveled to explore Witchcraft). He gathered info from all different sources including Crowley .But he traded these secrets with Crowley for young boys and girls. What is funny to me is that something started by a man and developed by a man is being passed off as Matriarchal. Go figure?? The "Old Laws" were developed after the burning times and it is these "laws" is what Gardener basis his thoughts on. Witchcraft predates these "laws" back to early man, to the carvings on the walls, before recorded time and is not recorded in written word. You will never find real Witchcraft in written word. What I am writing here is not "real" Witchcraft. Witchcraft is seen, heard and felt internally, intuitively. Which is why words have little meaning in this Craft. So when you claim to be a Witch Proper you KNOW you are a Witch in your own right. Not because of any grade or initiation or outside source. It is all because of or in spite of you alone. That’s a responsibility most are not willing, brave enough, or strong enough to take on. Personal responsibility. Scary!!! When you look to others for acknowledgment you are putting them above you and the Witch "worships" no one. Wicca celebrates the three phases of the moon as maiden, mother and crone totally bypassing the most powerful energy a women can use- the temptress or the whore, the dark phase of the moon...their sexual energy. The energy of Lilith, the Kondoli, who would not be dominated by a man and who demanded equality and has been demonized by history because of this. The dark moon and the snake (Kondoli) are considered male aspects by most but they are the basic of all female energies. Even today women are admired and despised at the same time for exploring and using their sexuality ... Especially by other women. This is a social conditioning from a patriarchal society. Wicca is more socially acceptable because it by passes or tip toes around or exploits this aspect so women are more comfortable, do not expose their sexuality or are sorely used. Unfortunately they do not explore it either and do a great injustice to themselves. Sexuality is not the only difference in fact it is not the biggest difference. But to understand the Witch within one must understand all aspects of self. But I must say that to use sexuality in Wicca would be a disservice to self because it is not matriarchal and not balanced. Too much emotion evolved because wiccans are not shown to separate from emotion when doing rite and the sex part carries out of the circle and into social thinking and it ends up kinda not being what you had intended in the first place. What is also funny is that in Native American tradition and to a point Wiccan when a woman is on her moon time she is kept separate from the rest of the group. Reasonings for this vary. But isn't it funny how when a women is at her most powerful she is asked to stay away because it is too much for the men to handle so a women is made to feel less then when in fact she is at that time the most powerful and could be utilized for the best outcome but it makes men feel like they are not all powerful so she is sent away. Things that make you go "Hummm". Another Patriarchal thing. Men are valuable and have purpose equal to women. A female Witch will not be dominated by a man and a male Witch will not be dominated by a women. BALANCE in all things, which is why a Witch does not operate from emotion, BUT with awareness of balance. Men are not warlocks. Warlocks are Witches who have broken the oath to the "Witchcraft". A Witch TRULY understands balance of all things. A Witch stands straight head high in full understanding of self and this world, the other worlds and the world he/she chooses to create and in his/her place in the "bigger" picture. Working Witchcraft is very difficult. Making the decision to take the oath as Witch is not something to be taken lightly and is very painful in many ways but when you get it and understand it the rewards are endless and the feeling is like a a spiritual orgasm that keeps on coming. An Epiphany of self. The difficulty is loneliness but a Mother can create a family (coven) and a Witch can be around like minded folks, but Witches are very independent. It is a fine line and takes a delicate balance to create a Witch family. The Thirteen moons is not applicable in Witchcraft. It is a journey of a lifetime. This life time and the ones afterwards. A Witch goes North to the Witch Mothers Castle in the Winter. This a part of her/his inheritence and it is intuitive and cannot be explained it must be discovered. A Witch does not "celebrate" the Wheel of the year. We do have "high" days or festivals but not for the same reasons or even the same days as wicca and not nearly as many. Witches do not dress any special way, they do not buy "tools" and things. What they do use they forge themselves. They do not exchange money for tools, knowledge, teachings. But there is an exchange. Once the path has begun you will no longer be able to live and ordinary life and you wouldn't want to. A Witch does not take mood medicine, Prozac, Zanex ect... A Witch is in full control of her/his emotions and body at all times. Other medicines are okay for the most part. We cannot not help genetics or disease, mostly....I personally would not tell anyone to not take any meds prescribed by a doctor. Everything in Witchcraft is up to the individual. I am a Mother, Elder, Weaver in one tradition and a Shaman, Medicine Person in another. I do not like to use titles as they are also a form of social conditioning but I wanted to let you know I do have experience and understanding on this subject. I am everything and nothing and just walking my path willing to answer the questions of those who ask. I am not light nor dark, nor left hand nor right hand. I am as loving, warm and gentle as I am hard, cold and indifferent. With me as with the Craft itself, you get back what you put in.
One more thing, every
Witchcraft Family is different and works with different
elements/energies, entities. I have worked with the one that
spoke to my personal energy, my personal path. Other traditions
and teaching vary depending on the thread you are working with.
"The truth will set you free. But it will piss you off first" "The opposite of love is not hate. It is indifference." "Holding a grudge is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die."
